Celadon Square Mugs

Four high-fired porcelain mugs, thrown in two sizes. Black slip is worked into the lower half with a roller while the pot is still on the wheel, leaving a crosshatched band that is as much for the hand as for the eye. A translucent celadon glaze then settles into that texture and thins over the raised marks, so the pattern darkens as it approaches the foot.
