Thrown in high-fired porcelain and coated, while still on the wheel, with black slip mixed with sodium silicate. As the pot is stretched from the inside the slip cannot follow, and it splits into the fine crackle that covers the lower half of each mug. The rims are left plain white, which keeps the texture where the hand goes.
