Sea Foam Bowl

One bowl seen from above, the brown interior ringed by a foaming turquoise rim. Five bowls set out together, each with a different break in the turquoise glaze. The bowls stacked, showing the mottled exteriors in profile.

Made during an Artist in Residence at Alchemy Art Center on San Juan Island, from a dark clay body fired at midrange. The turquoise outside breaks up into a foam of paler and darker greens over the dark clay, while the interior is left a plain glossy brown that complements rather than competes with it.
