Tenmoku Serving Bowl

Looking into the bowl at the pale cream interior and the rust band running around the rim. The bowl in profile, its dark carved exterior curving down to a small foot. Close view of the exterior carving, where overlapping dimples catch the dark glaze.

A large high-fired porcelain serving bowl. The exterior belly is carved by hand into a dense field of overlapping dimples, and the dark glaze sitting in them reads more like hammered metal than clay. Inside, the surface stays creamy and plain and the bowl is finished with a thick rust-colored band containing the lighter glaze on the inside.
