Cairn Lamps

Inspired by mountain cairns, each of these lamps is a stack of separately thrown, individually glazed forms. I stack them while the clay is still wet, to make organic shapes that stack and respond to each other rather than perfect spheres stacked like a snowman. The first pair, Emerald Basin and Emerald Lake, were commissioned together as bedside lamps and are glazed in jewel tones. The later two used other firing methods to impart more natural pigments.
